Australasian Journal of Podiatric Medicine Privacy Policy Australasian Podiatry Council and the Australasian Journal of Podiatric Medicine understands and shares your concerns about how personal information is collected, used and shared. We want to assure you that we will always handle your personal information securely and carefully. We will comply with all applicable Australian privacy laws and make our staff aware of their obligations. We collect information to deliver products or services to you. The personal information we collect is supplied by you when you register your details or place an order. Generally, the information we collect includes your name, address, delivery address, phone number and e-mail address. We will sometimes obtain other details, such as your membership status and credit card details. Through business partners such as ANZ EGate, who administer our credit card information, we also have access to purchasing information. We will not use your information for purposes unrelated to the services we provide. From time to time, we may provide aggregated and "de-identified" information to our public relations consultant for research evaluation. We may also pass on personal information for the purpose of fraud investigation, or other unlawful activities, with recognised authorities, regulatory bodies, government and organisations such as banks. Security We will take all reasonable steps to store your personal information securely. In particular, we want you to feel confident in dealing with us on the Internet. For many of our customers, we realise this an unfamiliar way of buying products and services. Only specific employees or sub-contractors in our public relations sector and IT areas have access to our customers' personal information, and only under strict controls and procedures. Our e-commerce sites use a process called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. We use industry standard 128 bit encryption. SSL locks all critical information passed from you to us, such as payment information, in an encrypted envelope, making it extremely difficult for this information to be intercepted. Credit Card details are not permanently stored on our
transactional systems. We use 1024 bit encryption for temporary storage.
The card number is stored until the order process has been finalised,
after which time it is deleted from our system. Consequently, your credit
card number must be entered by you each time you select online credit
card payment for each new order. From time to time and in line with customer expectations and legislative changes, our privacy policies and procedures will be reviewed and, if appropriate, updated. Please click here if you wish to link to the Australasian Podiatry Council Privacy Policy.
